Valiant effort for Halifax in Food Fight drive

Halifax put in a good effort but probably didn’t win the Food Fight with rivals Victoria and Regina.

Feed Nova Scotia was hoping to raise 200,000 kilograms in the campaign, but came up with 69,000 after the 48-hour weigh-in over the weekend.

“It’s a big undertaking to collect a large volume of food like this in a limited period of time. This is more than we usually raise in a whole month and we did it in just two days,” said Dianne Swinemar, executive director of Feed Nova Scotia. “I’m proud of what we accomplished here in Halifax.”
