A 20-year-old Vancouver man is presumed dead after going missing in the Squamish River on Sunday afternoon.
Mounties said yesterday that the man was riding in the river with his brother when they decided to jump in.
One brother was able to grab hold of a tree and was rescued; however, the other brother never resurfaced.
Squamish rescue crews searched the area using a boat and a helicopter but were unable to find the missing man. Strong river currents complicated their efforts.
The search was eventually called off.
The man’s name has not been released.
