Vandals with a vengeance?

Several residents had brake lines cut this week while their cars were parked on Bellefair Avenue in The Beach.

Several residents had brake lines cut this week while their cars were parked on Bellefair Avenue in The Beach.

Edward Cartier was driving to work Monday morning when he realized his truck brakes weren’t working. The postal worker managed to pump his brakes and stop his GMC Jimmy before barrelling into traffic on Queen Street East. Cartier also had the brake line cut on his other vehicle, a Dodge van.

Police have been warning motorists to check their parked cars after brake lines were cut either Monday or Tuesday on six vehicles on Bellefair and two vehicles belonging to the same family in the Granby and Church streets area of downtown Toronto. On Sunday, a vehicle parked on Bathurst Street, south of Dupont Street, also had its brake line damaged.
