Vaughan Councillor Peter Meffe is facing allegations that he failed to disclose a conflict of interest when he voted on dozens of development applications made by companies with which his electrical company did business.

The allegations are part of a complaint filed in court alleging that Meffe violated the Municipal Conflict of Interest Act. The allegations will be heard by an Ontario Superior Court judge in January.

They include an instance in 2006 in which Meffe voted to lift zoning restrictions for a cluster of retail-commercial buildings in Vaughan. The affidavit alleges that Meffe’s company at the time had a contract for wiring work for the developer making the application.
