Police say 81st homicide was a targeted attack
Fitawrari Lunan was hunted like prey by the gunmen who fatally wounded him, the Toronto police investigator seeking his killers says.
And the young man was gunned down inside a north-east Toronto townhouse just a few feet from where an eight-year-old boy cowered in terror in his mother’s arms.
"Mr. Lunan was targeted. It was a targeted attack on that house for him," Det.-Sgt. Gary Giroux said yesterday, after confirming the 25-year-old Toronto man had died overnight.
The man, who is now Toronto’s 81st murder for 2007, knew someone was after him, the detective said.
"He did have some baggage with someone. He had expressed concerns for his safety," Giroux said.
The shooting was in the afternoon on Friday in the busy housing co-operative.
Lunan was taken to hospital and had been on life support since being shot in the head by two attackers who invaded the home of a female friend he was visiting on Wilcox Creek Pathway on Friday.
