Victoria’s Secret coming to Canada

No girls-only voyage to Buffalo or New York City is complete without an afternoon spent admiring the silky treasures of Victoria’s Secret. For some, Victoria’s Secret is the only thing on the agenda.

But bra-specific road trips may soon become a thing of the past. In what is perhaps the most highly anticipated American invasion since Obama’s trip to Parliament Hill, Victoria’s Secret stores are finally expanding into Canada.

Limited Brands Inc., the parent company of Victoria’s Secret, already dipped a toe into our lingerie market with their acquisition of Canadian chain La Senza in 2007.

“We have a tremendous footprint with La Senza operating more than 300 stores in Canada,” Brooke Stull of Limited Brands told Metro via email. “We’re currently testing a new La Senza store layout and an assortment that focuses on new bra and panty styles … and we’re planning to open… the first four PINK stores in Canada.”

Victoria’s Secret PINK is phase one of the brand’s Canadian infiltration, beginning next month. An offshoot of the Victoria’s Secret brand, PINK and its merchandise focuses on collegiate loungewear and athletica, ultimately targeting a more youthful market than its seductive older sister. Traditional Victoria’s Secret stores are scheduled to arrive in Canada in the spring of 2010.
