VIDEO: Is Donny Reagan the country’s most racist pastor?

Pastor Donny Reagan is the leader of Happy Valley Church of Jesus Christ in Johnson City, Tenn. and he has received plenty of backlash on the Internet after his 2013 sermon slamming interracial marriage went viral recently.

In the sermon, Reagan claims that interracial mating is wrong in the eyes of God. He calls it “hybreeding.”

“Hybreeding, hybreeding, oh, how terrible, hybreeding,” he bemoans. But Reagan claims that it’s not just white people who shouldn’t want to mix with other races: “What, tell me, what fine, cultured, Christian colored woman would want her baby to be a mulatto by a white man? No, sir. It’s not right.”

Reagan continues and says it’s better for people to stay within their own race. “God made us what we are,” he says. “Let’s stay what God made us. I believe it’s right … Let the brown race marry the brown race, the white race marry the white race, the dark race, the yellow race and whatevermore, stay the way God made them.”

But Reagan doesn’t want you to think he’s racist. After all, he’s just trying to protect races from “hybreeding.” And like many other bigots, Reagan has black friends: “Some of the finest people I ever met in my life is some of them colored people.”

Happy Valley Church describes itself as non-denominational, but rooted in the “early Pentecostal era, making our services more of a Pentecostal type of atmosphere.” The church has about 600 members, and wrote on its site that it also has believers from Trinidad, Puerto Rico, Kenya and the Congo.
