Volunteers sought for bridge ceremony

TransLink is looking for volunteers to help with the historic opening celebration of the Golden Ears Bridge.

The $800-million bridge connects Maple Ridge to Langley with six lanes.

The June 14 all-day opening ceremony on the bridge deck will feature live performances on three stages, as well as exhibitions and displays.

Volunteers are preferred (although not required) to have experience working as performers or in customer service, hospitality or staging gear.

The celebration is a family event and pedestrian-only.

The Golden Ears will be a toll bridge, but motorists will be able to drive on it for free for the first month.
