A Canada-wide arrest warrant has been issued for a man wanted in a fatal stabbing outside a community centre in southern Alberta.

Mounties have charged 26-year-old Harpal Singh Dhillon of Lethbridge with second-degree murder.

Sgt. Patrick Webb says police believe he might be in the Calgary area.

Early Sunday morning, RCMP were called to the Community Centre in Coalhurst where an East Indian celebration was taking place.

Jiwanjyot Singh Ghai, 21, also of Lethbridge, was stabbed outside the building and died at the scene.

Police won’t comment on the motive for the death.
