Warrants issued for offender

Police have issued two Canada-wide warrants for a high-risk offender in Calgary who has been missing since Saturday.

Acting Staff Sgt. Stephen Johnston said Matthew Adrian Boyes, 39, was released into the Calgary area on July 30 after serving a six-month sentence for breaching conditions of his peace bond. He was originally released into Calgary in 2009 after serving a six-year federal prison sentence for manslaughter.

“He certainly has an unenviable record of violent offences in his past and certainly the risk increases if he is using drugs or alcohol, which we can’t determine because he is missing,” Johnston said, adding he has a history of violence against strangers, people known to him and peace officers.
