Police say a man found in a northwest strip mall was the victim of a homicide, and are investigating as to whether it was a random attack.
The body of Mark Anthony Mariani, 47, was found in the 1500 block of 16 Ave NW after police were called to check on his welfare when a couple found him bloodied in the parking lot.
Police spokesperson Kevin Brookwell said police are trying to piece together what happened between Saturday at midnight and Sunday just before 9 a.m. when his body was found.
“Robbery may have been a motive but we just don’t know yet until we get more information,” Brookwell said.
Police are withholding the cause of death for investigative reasons.
