The 2010 Winter Olympics may be happening on the other side of the country, but Halifax will be celebrating in its own way come February.

Officials with the Waterfront Development Corp. have announced they will create a winter wonderland on the Halifax waterfront from Feb. 26 to 28.

The festival, being dubbed Waterfront Winterfest, will feature snow-sculpting competitions, snowboarding demonstrations and an outdoor skating rink made from artificial ice.

A massive video screen will also be set up to broadcast live CTV coverage of gold-medal events taking place in Vancouver. For more information, go to www.waterfrontwinterfest.ca
