Declaring himself a man for the people, the city got a glimpse at mayoral candidate number 10 yesterday morning,

Wayne Stewart announced his bid at the Lougheed House in front of family and supporters and he pledged to continue to move Calgary forward.

“Calgary is a great city, but we cannot rest on our laurels. We must move forward or we will fall behind,” he said.

Stewart began his career in the oil and gas sector but has more recently served with the Calgary Foundation, HomeFront and the Calgary Homeless Foundation.

“Some of my most important work has been to change the way we think about people who are outside the mainstream. There’s still a lot more to do.”

Stewart vowed his first act as mayor would be to conduct an independent review into the way the city does business.
