Wedding show not just for brides anymore

Almost 2,000 brides-to-be are expected to flood Lansdowne Park this weekend for the Ottawa Wedding Show, but overall attendance will be closer to 6,000.

Showcasing a variety of products and services, the event attracts more than just those with weddings on their minds.

“This time around, we’re going to really promote it as a party and event show as well,” said Steve Caron, director of event marketing for Summit Consumer Shows Inc.

“What we’re finding is that all the exhibitors at the show — limousine services, photographers, event planners … provide services to non-wedding events as well,” he said.

The show, which is held in the spring and the fall, started in 2004 and has since doubled in size.

Visitors can expect to see everything from fashion shows, gown sales, and a large selection of exhibitors.

The Ottawa Wedding Show is held Saturday and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the Ottawa Civic Centre exhibition hall at Lansdowne Park.
