Between Sept. 3 and Sept. 6 RCMP traffic Services and Alberta Traffic Sheriffs handed out almost 4,000 tickets to Alberta drivers.
Among the infractions, 64 of those were for impaired driving and over 3,000 in speeding tickets.
According to Alberta Transportation, approximately 10 people have died on the Labour Day weekend each year from 2004 to 2008.
In a bid to improve safety on provincial roadways, RCMP and sheriffs are, during September, trying to spread the concept of sharing the roadways. With back to school season underway emphasis is put on sharing between children, pedestrians and drivers to ensure that everyone equally follows traffic safety rules.
