Weekend ends on calm note

Although Friday and Saturday proved to be busy for police, Halloween was relatively quiet for the cops.

Around 2:30 a.m. yesterday morning, police were called to a house party at the 100 block of Falchurch Road NE, where a fight had broken out.

One adult male was transported to hospital with stab wounds, while two adolescent males were treated on scene, according to duty Insp. Paul Stacey.

“The one guy was in rough shape,” said Stacey.

However, things seemed to calm down last evening, according to duty Insp. Darren Cave.

“We fully expected, with Halloween falling on a Sunday, that most of the activity would be on the Friday and Saturday night with parties and all the rough-housing and stuff,” said Cave.

“It’s been very quiet, and we’re happy about that being Halloween. There’s been nothing on our pagers since we started at 6 p.m.”

Cave said the weekend was otherwise a busy one for the Calgary Police Service.

“It was steady in most parts of the city, but we survived.”
