British Police ‘Regret’ Using Stun Gun On Blind Man

UK Police have apologized for using a stun gun to subdue a blind stroke victim they believed was carrying a samurai sword.

61-year-old Colin Farmer was on his way to a pub armed with his white cane when officers called to him to stop. He did not, so police shot him with a 50,000 volt taser. He was handcuffed despite peas that he was blind.

According to Lancashire Police Chief Stuart Williams, officers brought the Farmer to the hospital after they realized they used the weapon against the wrong man.

He says police “deeply regret” the incident, which happened when police received multiple calls about a man walking though the town of Chorley “armed with a samurai sword.”

The department and the Independent Police Complaints Commission are investigating the incident.

Police later arrested a 27-year old man in connection with the sword reports but released him without charge.

Man Dies After Eating Live Roach In Contest

The winner of a roach-eating contest has died after consuming dozens of the bugs, as well as worms.

The South Florida contest had about 30 contestants. 32-year-old Edward Archbold won the grand prize python, but fell ill shortly after the competition.

He was taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Authorities are awaiting autopsy results.

“Unless the roaches were contaminated with some bacteria or other pathogens, I don’t think that cockroaches would be unsafe to eat,” said Michael Adams, professor of entomology at the University of California at Riverside.

He says he’s never heard of anyone dying from eating roaches.

van Beek says he got the idea from a Georgia jeweler who offered a similar deal. Customers are required to spend a minimum of $1999 on the ring.

Charges Dropped, Family Humiliated After Brother’s Sex Lies

An oncology nurse from Western Mass says a comment made by her 38-year-old brother during an arrest at a sports bar is causing her family embarrassment and humiliation.

Amanda Larrivee, who lives in South Deerfield, Fla., and her brother were arrested at Samuel’s sports bar Sunday night, after the manager was told a patron was trying to steal a TV from the women’s restroom. The manager locked the two inside until police arrived.

According to police, officers confronted the two for attempting to steal the TV. When questioned, the male said he and the woman were having sex in the bathroom. Their shared parental lineage came out later in the questioning.

Larrivee told The Republican newspaper she immediately refuted the claim to police. She said he was going through a difficult break-up, and was upset and angry when he was fiddling with the TV. She says he was never trying to steal the TV.

Charges against Ms. Larrivee have been dropped, and the charges against her brother are being reduced from larceny to destruction of property after an investigation indicated he was not trying to steal the TV.

For Amanda Larrivee’s part…she just wants the world to know that she never had sex with her brother.

Dodgers Pitcher Sues Pipeline Builder Over Ocelot Habitat

Los Angeles Dodgers pitcher Josh Beckett’s company is suing a pipeline builder, claiming it destroyed an endangered ocelot habitat on a South Texas ranch.

The lawsuit accyses Eagle Ford Midstream LP of violating the federal Endangered Species Act by clearing land to build a natural gas pipeline.

According to the Associated Press, Beckett’s suit says the company falsely told the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service the land — awarded by eminent domain from Beckett Ventures Inc. — wasn’t a suitable habitat for the endangered wild cat.

Beckett’s company claims the pipeline builder engaged in “willful destruction” by clearing land after a notice of intent to sue was filed in August.
