What’s your best Edmonton story?

The City of Edmonton and Edmonton Economic Development Corp. launched a new initiative Thursday that every Edmontonian can participate in.

Edmonton Stories is a website of authentic anecdotes from residents and tourists alike about the Edmonton experience.

“I think it’s going to be a great start to building a new Edmonton,” said Mayor Stephen Mandel. “I think there’s no other place in the world that can sell their stories like we can.”

Anyone who wants can submit a story online at Edmontonstories.ca in one of three formats: written, audio and video.

Submissions made before July 31 are eligible for entry into a contest. The top video story wins a grand prize of gourmet dinner for six in a railcar atop High Level Bridge; other categories boast numerous other prizes.

Site visitors can navigate through three category tabs, separated into working, living and visiting, and more than 100 tags to find the types of narratives they’re looking for.

The site currently hosts 60 stories, but is looking for hundreds more.

“Our citizens will be our ambassadors,” said Mary Pat Barry, branch manager of corporate communications for the City of Edmonton.
