Some employees at Scotiabank branches across the Lower Mainland experienced a day in a wheelchair yesterday in support of the Rick Hansen Wheels in Motion event.
The experiment was designed to encourage an understanding of what it’s like to navigate life using a wheelchair, leading up to the event on June 14.
Scott McQuillin, a six-foot-eight customer service manager, said it has been an “awkward fit” but a great experience.
“I tried to go to the Bentall Centre for lunch. I almost tipped as I went across the street so I decided to come back and almost tipped again,” said McQuillin.
The event is in its seventh year and has raised $9.6 million for programs that improve the quality of life for those in wheelchairs.
