Where legends are beautified

The mantra at Mith the Salon: “We want guests to feel stylish and fashionable in a relaxed, calm and fun atmosphere,” says owner Michelle Fabbri.

Guests will find that easy to do upon entering this 3-year-old Albertson studio. Chic artwork adorns the walls, and the space makes use of wooden floors, open brick and light-inviting windows.

“It’s kind of like an art studio in here, like a New York City loft,” Fabbri says.

Mith is the fourth salon owned by Fabbri, but the first that she has owned without a partner. After constantly debunking gossip that she was opening her own salon — telling interested parties that “it was just a myth” — she did in fact decide to open her own shop, cheekily naming it Mith as a play on the rumors she faced.

Mith offers various hair services for men and women — including styling, color and treatments — and also provides services such as makeup, waxing and nails. Stylists can travel off-site to do work for Sweet 16 parties, weddings and other special occasions.

And good news for diehards of dye: The internal L’Oréal concept salon has a strong team of color experts (many of them come from Manhattan) and is certified to use INOA, L’Oréal’s line of ammonia-free color.

What’s hot at Mith

There are some recent trends that Fabbri is excited to see take center stage. For one, soft waves are making a comeback over pin-straight locks, and tousled tresses that are full of body get a thumbs-up. The salon is also often doing Balayage highlights — in which color is applied free-form instead of in a specific pattern — to produce more natural, sun-kissed-looking color.
