Where you can (and can’t) go

People living and working in Vancouver during the 2010 Games will face a number of road closures, parking restrictions and dedicated Olympic Lanes, particularly in downtown Vancouver. Among them:

• Olympic lanes (blue): The dedicated 24-hour-a-day lanes will be similar to high-occupancy vehicle lanes, but will be restricted to accredited Olympic and transit use. The lanes will connect Olympic venues with the Olympic Village and the airport. In all, 170 blocks will be affected.

• Security closures (red): Roads near venues, the Olympic Village and the International Media Centre will be closed by security planners for the duration of the Games.

• Pedestrian corridors (green): These thoroughfares that will be in effect between noon and midnight aim to make it safe, fun and easy to walk between venues and celebration sites. The corridors will affect 32 blocks.

• Parking restrictions and turning restrictions (yellow): Existing rush-hour restrictions will be in place 24 hours a day. In some areas, new parking restrictions will be added.
