White notches double OT winner for Hitmen

Ryan White emerged as the double overtime hero for the Calgary Hitmen last night
in a thrilling 6-5 win over the Swift Current Broncos.
White scored with 52.5
seconds left in the second extra session to give the Hitmen a 2-1 lead in the
best-of-seven Western Hockey League Eastern Conference semifinal series. Game 4
is also slated for the Saddledome tonight at 7 p.m.
The Hitmen trailed 2-0 in
the first before battling back to tie the game in the second, only to see the
Broncos take a 5-3 lead into the third.
“We didn’t come out with the start we
wanted to,” defenceman Paul Postma told Shaw TV.
Brock Nixon then counted his
second goal of the game in the third before Ian Schultz scored to force
overtime. Postma and Karl Alzner also scored, while White and Keith Seabrook
each set up three goals.
Matt Tassone had a two-goal performance for the
Broncos, while Dale Weise, Michael Wilson and Geordie Wudrick each scored
once.
In his first-ever WHL playoff game, Hitmen goalie Martin Jones made 20
saves in a relief appearance of starter Dan Spence to record the victory.
