Whole Foods Market Inc. confused the labels on chicken salad and those on a vegan version at some of its Northeast locations, the company announced.
The mislabeled curried chicken salad and vegan curried “chick’n” salad were sold in 15 stories in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Jersey and New York, including the ones in Columbus Circle and the Upper West Side.

The company said that in some locations the mix-up was made in displays in the prepared food sections behind glass and at other locations at the cold food bars where customers can scoop their own food into containers.
The salads were sold on Tuesday and Wednesday of last week.
This doesn’t only present problems for vegans, but also for those with food allergies. The vegan version of the salad contains soy and the meat version contains egg.
The company said no illnesses have been reported.
Libba Letton, a spokeswoman for Whole Foods, said the mislabeled salads came from a company-owned commissary, according to the AP.
Letton also said the mix-up was discovered by a Whole Foods employee in the prepared food section of a store.
Whole Foods alerted customers with signs in the store about the mislabeled salads. The company also issued a recall in line with guidelines set by the FDA.
