It was a sheer display of Will Power taking the win at yesterday’s Indy.
Australian Will Power of Team Penske took first place, followed by Brazilian Helio Castroneves and New Zealand’s Scott Dixon, respectively.
“Man, very good day, very good weekend to get pole position and the race win, so very happy,” said Power.
He was leading later in the race, and he said that the last 25 laps seemed to take forever.
“It dragged on, like come on man, this thing’s got to finish soon,” he said.
“I guess when you’re leading, you just want it to be over with.”
However, he said that he ultimately wasn’t too stressed in the end because he had a big gap.
In his five races this year, Power has finished no worse than sixth place.
Although it was a great weekend for many racers, Tony Kanaan’s vehicle unfortunately caught fire in the middle of the race, with the Brazilian suffering minor burns to his hands and face. Racing for the near future for Kanaan is still uncertain.
Castoneves, the runner-up, said that he and Dixon were battling it out at the start of the race.
“It’s very competitive out there, it’s difficult to pass, unless you’re sure you’re going to make a move,” said Castoneves.
He added that even though it was “pedal to the metal” most of the race, there is still a lot of mental strategy that must be used.
“We would have liked to have won, but Will Power had a fantastic weekend,” said third place finisher Scott Dixon.
Paul Tracy was the top Canadian, finishing sixth.
