After frequently bumping into each other on the awards circuit, it’s no surprise that Oscar nominees Carey Mulligan and Jeremy Renner have struck up a friendship.

The actors were looking very cozy together as they partied at the Vanity Fair after-party on Sunday night, reports

The Bafta winner, 24, and The Hurt Locker star, 39, were spotted deep in conversation and being very tactile with each other as they openly flirted.

The pictures of the friendly pair are unlikely to go down well with Mulligan’s actor boyfriend Shia LaBeouf, who was surprisingly absent at the Academy Awards.

Mulligan has been dating LaBeouf since August after falling for each other on the set of Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps.

Just a week ago, Mulligan was photographed kissing and cuddling LaBeouf in a New York street during a few days off.

LaBeouf was seen accompanying her to JFK airport, prompting speculation he would be joining her in Los Angeles ahead of the weekend’s festivities.

Instead, Mulligan arrived on the red carpet at the Kodak Theatre with her mom Nano, while Renner brought his mother Valerie.

Renner has recently been linked to newly-single beauty Charlize Theron, but he insists they’re just friends.

He said: “I’m single — and looking. I’m not a ladies man — I’m a working man, that’s all.'
