After being appointed as the new head coach of the Calgary Hitmen, Mike Williamson noted that he has “some big shoes to fill.”

Needless to say, that’s an understatement.

After guiding the Hitmen to a franchise-best record of 59-9-3-1, Dave Lowry recently departed the WHL ranks to join the Calgary Flames as an assistant coach.

On Tuesday, the Hitmen introduced Williamson as Lowry’s replacement.

“Dave did just an incredible job,” said Williamson, who becomes the seventh head coach in franchise history. “There’s high expectations here in Calgary every year.”
