Windsor, Ont., man banned from owning animals after conviction for abusing dogs

<p>A Windsor, Ont., man won't be allowed to own ananimal for the rest of his life after being convicted of animal abusecharges.</p>

WINDSOR, Ont. - A Windsor, Ont., man won't be allowed to own an
animal for the rest of his life after being convicted of animal abuse
charges.

Orville Kevin Harris will also have to pay a $1,000
fine and $3,100 in restitution to the Ontario SPCA, and serve two years
probation.

It's for failing to care for his two redbone coon hounds, Stealth and Hooch.

The dogs were found in severe distress by the Windsor-Essex Humane Society.

Harris was charged under the new Ontario SPCA Act.

The charges were causing distress, permitting distress and failing to comply with the standards of care for animals.
