Witness helps cops grab drug store robber

Man claiming to be armed walked up to a clerk at the Shoppers Drug Mart Thursday and demanded drugs

 

A man who robbed a Bank Street drug store didn't get far thanks to a witness.

 

Ottawa police say a man claiming to be armed walked up to a clerk at the Shoppers Drug Mart Thursday and demanded drugs.

 

He made off with an undisclosed amount of narcotics just before 4 p.m. There were no injuries.

 

A witness directed officers to a bus where the suspect was arrested.

A 41-year-old Ottawa man has been charged with two counts of robbery, two counts of uttering threats, one count of having face disguised, one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000 and one count of breaching his probation.
