RCMP Insp. Bill Fordy is asking for the public’s assistance in locating the man pictured in this composite sketch. Police believe he is the only living witness to the murders of six men in Surrey five months ago.

RCMP yesterday released the sketch of a man they believe witnessed the gang-style slaying of six men, two of whom were innocent victims, in a Surrey high rise.

Insp. Bill Fordy said investigators are looking for an Asian man in his 20s who saw, and likely knows, a group of men come and go from the Balmoral Tower in a black BMW 745 L-I on Oct. 19.

"The person in that sketch is a person that we know to be present on the day of the murder," Fordy said, asking the man, or anyone who knows him, to come forward.

"The information this witness (has) is crucial … We want him to do the right thing."

"You know these men," he said. "You do not owe them one ounce of respect or dignity. You need not fear them. I’m asking you to be brave and to be a hero. I am telling you that we will protect you."

Fordy said at any given time there are 50 to 100 full-time investigators working the case.

"We do have suspects," he said. "We are in discussions with Crown prosecutors."

  • Chris Mohan, of Surrey and Ed Schellenberg, of Abbotsford, were innocent victims shot dead alongside Edward (Eddie) Sousakhone Narong, Corey Jason Lal, Michael Justin Lal and Ryan Bartolomeo.

  • Mohan lived on the same floor and Schellenberg had been in the apartment servicing the gas fireplace.
