TORONTO - A 29-year-old woman is dead after falling about four storeys while trying to jump across a section of a building in downtown Toronto.

Toronto police Sgt. Dave Vickers say the woman was apparently ghost-hunting in the building (near Spadina and Bloor) at about 2 a.m. when she fell.

The woman was with a male friend and Vickers says police believe they were in the building because they thought it was haunted.

He says there was “some attempt to move from one portion of the building to another” when the woman fell to her death three or four floors into an open courtyard.

Vickers says the death is being treated as a misadventure and no decision has been made yet on whether charges are being considered.

The building is associated with the University of Toronto.
