A 75-year-old woman has died after an incident involving a chairlift in Whistler on Thursday.

RCMP Sgt. Peter Thiessen said Thursday night it wasn’t clear at that time whether the victim fell from a moving chair or if she was struck by the mechanism.

He added the circumstances of the woman’s death are still being investigated.

Some of the chairlifts at Whistler Blackcomb operate during the summer for sightseeing.
