Woman dies on Edmonton street in bizarre hit-and-run

The woman was crossing a street about 10:00 last night when she was struck by a northbound pick-up in the curb lane.

A woman has died in a car-pedestrian crash in west Edmonton.

The woman was crossing a street about 10:00 last night when she was struck by a northbound pick-up in the curb lane.

The driver said he saw something dark, hit the brakes but not in time to avoid the woman who was thrown into another lane of traffic.

A second pick-up skidded to a stop behind the truck that hit the woman.

A driver of a northbound car swerved to avoid the suddenly stopped trucks and ran over the woman who was dragged about a dozen metres.

The car then drove away from the scene and police say the person behind the wheel should have known the vehicle hit something.
