A Langley woman whose car jumped the curb and killed a six-year-old boy has been fined $800.
A judge found Alice Reid guilty of driving without due care and attention when she accidentally crushed six-year-old Joshua Bates between her Ford Escort and the outer wall of a pharmacy on Aug 29, 2007. The court heard that Reid pressed the gas pedal when she meant to press the brake.
The fine is for Reid’s momentary lapse of attention and “is not a reflection or assessment of the precious life of Joshua Bates,” Crown counsel Winston Sayson said.
