A 24-year-old Ottawa woman is dead after her car collided with a transport truck on Highway 17 west of Arnprior late Wednesday night.
Ontario Provincial Police officers responded to the two-vehicle collision around 11:20 p.m.
According to police, the woman was driving a 2004 Chevrolet Cobalt westbound when she veered into the eastbound lanes of traffic and struck a 2008 Peterbuilt transport with two trailers.
The transport jack-knifed and came to rest on its side in the south ditch.
The driver of the transport, Richard Niemi, 41, of Haileybury, suffered minor injuries.
Paramedics transported the woman to the hospital in Arnprior, but she was transferred to the trauma centre at the Ottawa Civic Hospital where she was pronounced dead.
At the request of the family, her name will not be released.
A postmortem examination will be conducted on the deceased driver. No charges are expected.
