Woman, man suffer serious injuries in west-end collision

Two people were seriously injured in a collision in the city’s west end yesterday morning.

Emergency workers attended a collision involving a dump truck and a car near Hazeldean and Jinkinson roads just west of Stittsville at 11:35 a.m. yesterday.

The passenger side of the car took the brunt of the collision, said Ottawa paramedic spokesman J.P Trottier.

Paramedics treated a 46-year-old female passenger for serious head injuries and internal injuries.

She was unconscious at the scene and did not regain consciousness upon arrival at hospital, said Trottier. She is in stable condition.

A 23-year-old man who is believed to be the driver of the car was treated for injuries to his rib cage and back. He was transported to hospital where he is in serious but stable condition.

Paramedics had a busy morning yesterday. Half an hour earlier, they attended a collision at Eagleson Road and Michael Cowpland Drive.
