Work begins on ring road interchanges

Representatives from both the provincial and federal governments broke ground on two interchanges in southwest Edmonton yesterday.

MP Mike Lake and Luke Ouellette, Alberta minister of transportation, said the two ring road interchanges on Anthony Henday Drive will relieve traffic congestion, improve safety, and boost Alberta’s economy.

Ouellette said the Callingwood Road and Lessard Road interchanges will be completed along with the northwest expansion of the Henday in the fall of 2011.

The governments of Canada and Alberta each contributed $22.3 million toward the $44.6-million project.
