Celebrating its 25th year, the Works Art and Design Festival will be back this summer with the largest free outdoor art exhibition in North America.
The festival will run from June 25 to July 7, and will feature 44 exhibits from both local and international artists, as well as a main exhibit area in Churchill Square.
“This year, the Works’ featured theme is Earth,” said Kevin Feehan, president of the Works International Visual Arts Society.
“And it will combine the concepts of art, sustainability, social responsibility and environmental consciousness, focusing on the importance of these elements in our everyday lives.”
Exhibits will mostly be at various locations around the downtown area, such as hotels, office buildings and some shops.
“Every year the Works presents over 400 artists, around 30 to 45 exhibits, 200-plus special events and sees a couple hundred thousand people, which is pretty good,” said Amber Rooke, director of production and programs.
“But when you stack those up over 25 years, it’s awesome.”
More than 5.6 million visitors have experienced the festival over its 25-year history, Rooke added.
