A limited number of tickets are available for the opening ceremony of the 40th WorldSkills Competition, held in Calgary starting on Sept. 1.

The city will welcome 900 competitors, 1,000 delegates, experts and government officials, sponsors and local students and families.

The opening ceremony is a landmark for WorldSkills Calgary 2009 because it will be the first time in WorldSkills International’s 59-year history that an aboriginal speaker will welcome the audience to traditional First Nations lands.

The opening ceremony runs from 6 to 9 p.m. at the Grandstand at Stampede Park.
