Wylde’s tamer side on display

Former Ozzy Osborne guitarist Zakk Wylde has officially stepped out of the shadow of his bat-biting boss.

His band, Black Label Society, has just seen its latest album, Order of the Black, debut at No. 4 on the Billboard 200 Album Chart.

The metal artist has come a long way from his days as a gas station attendant. Despite living the life that many teenage music fans dream of, Wylde remains grounded.

“Ozzy is my alma mater, like Princeton or something. It is such an honour to work with him and to follow someone like Randy Rhoads. I never get tired of that, it’s where I came from.”

While honouring where he got his start in the business, Wylde also makes sure to give credit to his fan base.

“Hard rock is such a loyal community, so whether we are in Boston or L.A., we go out and see a lot of the same faces and become good friends with these people.”

Just how metal is guitar legend Zakk Wylde?

“I like bands like Neil Young and the Eagles. I enjoy that stuff and it’s fun to do.”
