British star Cheryl Cole is reportedly no longer a part of the U.S. edition of X Factor, Simon Cowell’s new singing competition, which is set to premiere in September. While Cole has been a hit on the original U.K. version of the show, there were concerns her accent would be too difficult for American audiences to understand, according to TMZ.

There are reportedly other issues as well, including a “lack of chemistry” with fellow judge Paula Abdul. The change of heart regarding Cole apparently came after taping of the show’s audition rounds began in Los Angeles. While there’s been no official word on who will replace Cole at the judges table — where Cowell, Abdul and producer L.A. Reid sit — sources claim former Pussycat Dolls singer Nicole Scherzinger, the show’s co-host, would step into the role.

While reps for Fox have yet to comment on the story, a source close to Cole tells Us Weekly it’s done.
