X-Men basketball trio have single charge dropped

Three members of the St. Francis Xavier X-Men basketball team each had a single charge dropped for their alleged role in an incident in which a student was assaulted in the early hours of Feb. 21 in Antigonish.

Tyler Richards and Eamon Morrissy, both of Halifax, and William Donkoh of Nepean, Ont. were all in Antigonish provincial court yesterday to face the charges against them.

Richards, a basketball star who played his fifth — and final — season with the X-Men this past season, had one of the two charges against him for assault causing bodily harm withdrawn.

Richards is also charged with assault with a weapon and is due back in court June 8 for election and plea.

Morrissy and Donkoh were also each charged with two counts of assault causing bodily harm, and like Richards, they each had one count withdrawn. They’re also back in court June 8.
