The St. Francis Xavier X-Men flexed their muscles in Atlantic University Sport men’s basketball yesterday.

The nationally-fifth-ranked X-Men improved to 10-1 this season and increased their lead atop the AUS standings, edging past the Saint Mary’s Huskies 71-70 in Antigonish. The X-Men, whose only loss this season came at the hands of the Huskies, have an eight-point cushion on the second-place Huskies (8-4) and Cape Breton Capers (8-3).

The Dalhousie Tigers had a tough weekend, losing a home-and-home with the P.E.I. Panthers to fall to 7-5. In women’s play, third-place Dal (9-3) stretched its winning streak to nine games with two wins over P.E.I.
