Yellowknife to host Canadian senior curling

OTTAWA – Yellowknife will host the Canadian senior curling championships for the first time in 2014.

The men’s and women’s events will be held March 22-30, 2014, at the Yellowknife Curling Centre, the Canadian Curling Association announced Tuesday.

“The Canadian Curling Association is quite pleased to be in the position of hosting our first-ever national championship in the Northwest Territories,” CCA chief executive officer Greg Stremlaw said in a release.

The winners will represent Canada at the 2015 world senior curling championships.

This year’s national event will be held March 17-24 in Abbotsford, B.C., with the winner advancing to the world playdowns in 2013.
