You’re pregnant, not an invalid

Re: “Response to reader’s letter,” Feb. 12:

May I remind reader Nattasha Lue that courtesy seating is for the elderly and handicapped so unless she’s an 85-year-old pregnant woman with a broken leg, she doesn’t qualify. Being pregnant means that you’re with child, not an automatic invalid.

Those of us who work long hours and stand on our feet all day and pay our TTC fares are just as entitled to the seats as she is.

Just because our fatigue is not as visible as a swollen belly does not give pregnant women priority seating over us. The people of Toronto are for the most part decent people and if they don’t offer you a seat it’s probably because they’re tired. They don’t deserve your whining.
