City cops are looking for two men who may have been involved in a 2007 attempted murder.
Police believe two men caught on a surveillance tape from a hotel may have information about a shooting in the city’s southeast in October and are asking for public assistance.

Organized crime Staff Sgt. Martin Schiavetta told reporters the incident has ties to organized crime.
“We believe there may have been up to six people involved in the attempted murder,” he said, adding four men were already charged last year in connection with the same shooting.

On October 5, 2007, police were called to a shooting at a home in the 4000 block of Doverwood Pl. SE that left a man in hospital with serious gunshot wounds.

A subsequent search led police to a hotel in Sunridge where investigators believe the victim and the shooters were before the incident. That is where police found a gun outside the hotel on hotel property.

“We also just received confirmation from ballistics the gun found outside the hotel was linked to the Dover shooting. We’re still trying to determine motive and who the shooter was.”

Schiavetta expressed concern the people of interest may be in another jurisdiction but said police will be working with other communities in this case.

Police are asking anyone with information to come forward and call police at 266-1234 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
