A 15-year-old male was taken into custody on Monday while police continued to search for a second youth suspect after another 15-year-old boy boarded a Metro Transit bus Sunday night suffering from multiple stab wounds to the abdominal area.
The injured teenager was bleeding heavily at Alderney Gate around 11 p.m.; the bus driver contacted police and Emergency Health Services personnel after seeing the condition of the passenger.
The victim was transported to hospital by ambulance with serious, but non-life threatening, injuries.
While they haven’t been able to speak with the victim yet, investigators believe the assault was the work of two youth males and it happened while the victim was waiting for his bus. Police suspect the motive was robbery.
The arrested youth was taken into custody Monday morning at Victoria Road in Dartmouth. He remains in custody but has not been charged. The police say they know who the other suspect is, and are trying to locate his whereabouts.
