NFL lockout nearing end?

ESPN.com is reporting the NFL and NFL?Players’ Association may be nearing an agreement to end the current lockout.

According to ESPN, the two sides may have an agreement in place that could be ratified when the league holds its annual meetings July 21.

As for what the new CBA?would look like is another story. ESPN?reports the current issues are over the rookie wage scale. The NFL?has never had a scale, unlike the NBA, and rookies have received massive contracts while yet to play. Sam Bradford, 2010’s No. 1 overall pick, signed a six-year, $78 million contract with $50 million guaranteed.

By contrast, two-time Super Bowl champion Ben Roethlisberger made just $36 million guaranteed when he re-signed in 2008.
