NFL Roundup: Week 3

Week 3 of the NFL featured some outstanding back and forth games, three overtime games and even a few upsets mixed in. Here is a rundown of all the Week 3 early games:

Chicago Bears 23 St. Louis Rams 6

The Bears scored 13 fourth quarter points to runaway with a 17-point win at home over the Rams. It was an ugly all-around game as the Rams only managed 160 yards of total offense. Major Wright had a 45-yard interception return for a touchdown in the win.

New York Jets 23 Miami Dolphins 20 OT

Nick Folk’s 33-yard field goal with just over six minutes left in the overtime period gave the Jets the road-win. Dolphins kicker Dan Carpenter missed a 48-yarder just minutes before, which would have given the Dolphins the win. Santonio Holmes caught nine passes for 147 yards in the win.

Buffalo Bills 24 Cleveland Browns 14

The Browns are still seeking their first win as the Bills went into Cleveland and walked away with a ten-point win. Quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick led the Bills with 208 yards passing and three touchdowns.

Tennessee Titans 44 Detroit Lions 41 OT

In arguably the wildest game of the season, the Titans earned their first win of the year beating the Lions in overtime. The two teams combined for an astonishing 46 fourth quarter points before Titans kicker Rob Bironas won it with a 26-yard field goal in overtime. Rookie Jake Locker threw for 378 yards and two touchdowns in his first career NFL win.

Dallas Cowboys 16 Tampa Bay Buccaneers 10

The Cowboys bounced back from a loss in Seattle last week with a win in their home opener. Tony Romo and the Cowboys offense didn’t have a particularly good day, but their defense held the Bucs to only 166 yards of total offense, leading them to the win.

Kansas City Chiefs 27 New Orleans Saints 24 OT

In another upset, the Chiefs knocked the Saints to 0-3 on the season with a three-point overtime win, which was their first win of the young season. The Chiefs came all the way back from being down 24-6 midway thru the third quarter. Chiefs running back Jamaal Charles ran for 233 yards and a touchdown on 33 carries in the win.

Jacksonville Jaguars 22 Indianapolis Colts 17

Cecil Shorts III’s 80-yard touchdown catch from quarterback Blaine Gabbert with just 45 seconds remaining in regulation gave the Jaguars their first win of the season. Maurice Jones-Drew had a monster game for the Jaguars as he rushed for 177 yards and a touchdown.

Minnesota Vikings 24 San Francisco 49ers 13

In possibly the upset of the season, the Vikings defeated the 49ers in game where the Vikings led 17-3 at the half. Vikings quarterback Christian Ponder threw for 198 yards and two touchdowns, while running for another. Tight end Kyle Rudolph caught both touchdowns. Both teams are now 2-1.

Cincinnati Bengals 38 Washington Redskins 24
