NHL Playoffs: Bruins still have lots of work

The Bruins and their fans breathed a huge sigh of relief Monday, when the Black and Gold staved off sure elimination with a Game 3 win at Montreal.

If the B’s are smart, the honeymoon after that impressive performance is long over.

Yes, Boston is riding a 4-2 victory in which it finally got to ace Canadiens goalie Carey Price.

But the B’s came within shouting distance of blowing a 3-0 lead in Game 3. For the third game in a row, Boston failed to do anything with its power-play opportunities; going into last night’s action, only the B’s and Pittsburgh had failed to register a man-up goal in the postseason.

Negatives aside, Thursday night’s Game 4 presents Boston with a golden opportunity to even the first-round playoff series. They’ll be rested after two days in Lake Placid, N.Y.

“We still have a lot of work ahead of us,” Tim Thomas said Tuesday. “But now we can come here, step back, recharge ourselves, and get ready to do it again.”
