Nick Cannon has released a new freestyle track called “Divorce Papers,”firing back at the recent drama surrounding his divorce from singer Mariah Carey.
Earlier this month,TMZreported that the 35-year-old rapper has “repeatedly declined to sign the papers that would make the divorce final,”even though the two have been separated since 2014. There has been some speculation that Cannon is trying to delay Carey’s marriage to her new fiancé, Australian businessman James Packer. RELATED:Nick Cannon calls out Eminem The 4-minute freestyle is a pretty emotional rant about the struggles of divorce, particularly the toll it’s taken on their 5-year-old twins, Monroe and Moroccan. In a statement posted toKaren Civil, he explains that the purpose of releasing the track was to express his frustrations with the media and “clear the air and set the record straight once and for all.” With any luck, Cannon’s ex might be getting the papers she’s looking for very soon — he closes out the rap with the line, “Man, f—k it, I’ll sign these papers.”
